Yellow Pages Group Member Survey RE: Compensation
BACKGROUNDER
Yellow Pages Group seeks to amend the following provision of the Collective Agreement because of the declining revenues already reported to you. Article 22 reads, in part, as follows:
Article 22 - Compensation and Administration
22.01 Commission Rates
a) The commission rates for all occupations covered by this Agreement are set as follows:

b) Due to the introduction of new products or changes in product mix, the Company agrees to hold consultative sessions with the Union to review commission rates on a yearly basis.
c) Effective date for these commission rates is for 2011 canvass assignment.
22.09 Minimum RBS Assignment
It is agreed between the parties that the following amounts will apply as a minimum annual assignment of revenue to a Media Marketing Consultant:

The amounts indicated are subject to revision by mutual agreement of the parties to this Agreement.
YPG PROPOSED AMENDMENTS
Advantage Channel:
1. Sales positions maintained (no lay-offs); failure to reach agreement on the amendments will result in lay-offs
2. RBS $675,000
3. Renewal Commission Rate: 2.42%
4. New Business Commission Rate: 17.34%
5. Kicker incentive bringing new business rate to 20% for WIPE OUT accounts from previous year, non ads applicable non ads as assigned (“A” market) and self prospect
New Premise Channel:
1. Sales positions maintained (no lay-offs); failure to reach agreement on the amendments will result in lay-offs
2. Move to cycle assignment for 2012 as follows:
a. RBS: $1,300,000
b. Total Projected Compensation: $95,300
c. Renewal Rate: 3.50%
d. New Business Rate: 9.09%
e. Kicker incentive bringing new business rate to 20% for WIPE OUT accounts from previous year, non ads applicable non ads as assigned (“A” market) and self prospect
Target Renewal:
1. Target % Renewal 81.0%
2. Target % NG 1.4%
3. Target % NB 20.4%
Mileage Allowance:
From $0.14 to $0.17 retroactive to January 1st, 2012
Note: The current Collective Agreement expires June 30, 2012 and the Union is entitled to be at the bargaining table as early as March.

NOTE: YPG maintains that it will have to commence some thirty-four (34) lay-offs immediately if it's proposed amendments are rejected. Under all the circumstances, the Union Committee recommends that you vote “YES”.
