On Saturday COPE 378 President David Black and Meter Reader Bob Brown appeared on Sean Leslie’s CKNW radio show to talk about the government’s forced implementation of Smart Meters. The topic has received new interest in the wake of a resolution by the Union of BC Municipalities calling for a moratorium.

Burnaby – Mayors and Councillors at the Union of BC Municipalities voted today for a moratorium on the installation of wireless smart meters. The union representing soon-to-be-out of work meter readers says it hopes the motion will bring attention to the plight of its meter reader members.

BURNABY – The cuts keep coming at BC Hydro with the release of the Ministerial Rate Review panel recommendations, says the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, Local 378 (COPE 378). COPE 378 represents workers at BC Hydro its privatized arm, Accenture. But the people working at BC Hydro aren’t the problem, says the union.
