Welcome the Year of the Dragon with COPE 378 at the Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade

Friday, January 6, 2012

COPE 378 wishes all members and their families the very best for the Lunar New Year - the Year of the Dragon.

The dragon is the fifth sign in the Chinese zodiac and is the mightiest of all the animal signs, recognized for its strength and independence.

Join COPE 378 board members and members of the Multicultural Committee on Sunday, January 29, 2012 to walk in the Lunar New Year parade in Vancouver’s Chinatown.

This will be the fifth year that members and their families will participate in the Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown. The procession will walk through Vancouver's Chinatown via Pender and Keefer Streets.

The parade normally lasts 2 hours. COPE 378 members and their families are invited to lunch at the Floata Restaurant after the parade is done. We ask that participating members provide a donation between $5 - $20 that the union will donate to a local Chinatown charity. Last year COPE 378 collected donations for the Simon KY Lee Senior Care Home.

Space is limited and participants are included on a first come, first served basis. Please click here to register for the event and be sure to include how many family members will be attending. If you have any questions, please email saaron@cope378.ca.

DETAILS FOR PARTICIPANTS:

The COPE 378 party will meet before the parade, between 11:25 and 11:35 AM in front of T&T Supermarket at the International Village, one block from Stadium SkyTrain station. We will then proceed to the Chinatown gate for 11:45 AM, where we will be handing out red packets containing chocolate coins.

For more information on the route and other entertainment related to the event, visit www.cbavancouver.ca/parade.html.
