Welcome COPE 15 members

The members and staff of COPE 378 wish to welcome the members of COPE 15 who become members of COPE 378 as of January 1, 2010.

This historic merger has been a long time in the making. The movement towards the merger started just over a year ago with talks between the two Locals, and unanimous votes from the Executive Boards and Councils of both Locals. In October, COPE 15’s members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the merger, and at our November 2009 Convention COPE 378 delegates voted unanimously in support of the merger. In Early December, assent for the merger was given by the COPE National Executive.

Our local is growing and changing in positive ways, and with these changes we gain strength, bargaining power, and a stronger voice which will benefit all of our members.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to get involved with your union. We’ve gained a powerful momentum with this merger, and we need your help to keep moving forward.

Please consider becoming a Job Steward or joining one of the union’s committees. Be an advocate for your rights in the workplace. Your participation is the key to making your union strong.
