An essential step on the path to reconciliation.

British Columbians join with aboriginal people in recognizing the importance of the apology yesterday for the horrific abuses in residential schools.

And we pledge to do our part to move forward from apology to action - to go forward with aboriginal people on the path to reconciliation, self-determination, dignity and justice that has so long been denied.

Office Closure - June 30, 2008

COPE 378 office will be closed on June 30th in conjunction with Canada Day.

While the office will be closed, a skeleton staff will be available to assist with any emergencies.

The office will re-open on Wednesday, July 2nd.

Delegates at the Canadian Labour Congress Constitutional Convention today considered number of core resolutions surrounding organizing, youth policy, and political action.

COPE-SEPB delegates played key roles in these discussions and debate and spoke to resolutions regarding the formation of a youth forum and organizing efforts.

 CLC Delegates Applaud Dr Henry Morgenthaler

COPE 378 delegates at the Canadian Labour Congress Constitutional Convention heard from a number of prominent speakers on Wednesday, in addition to moving a number if core policy resolutions.

The highlight of the day was an address given by Dr Henry Morgenthaler. Dr. Morgenthaler was presented with the CLC's Award for Outstanding Service to Humanity for his prominent role in getting the Supreme Court of Canada to overthrow Canada's restrictive abortion laws, and secure women the right to choose.

Canadian Labour Congress Convention Begins in Toronto

Delegates from COPE 378 joined labour activists from across Canada and Quebec for the 2008 Canadian Labour Congress Convention in Toronto.

The CLC-CTC Constitutional Convention takes place every three years and includes a number of resolution submitted by affiliated union s and locals across the country, as well as the election of the CLC's President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Executive.

This is the 25th Constitutional Conference of the CLC-CTC since the organization formed in 1956. With 3.2 million members, the CLC is the largest democratic organization in the country.
