New Medical Certificate Protects Hertz Employees Medical Privacy

Tuesday, November 15, 2011
To: COPE 378 Members at Hertz

A new medical certificate that protects Hertz employees’ medical privacy has been ordered by Arbitrator Ron Keras.

Your union filed a grievance after the employer was seeking too much medical information from our members at Hertz. Arbitrator Ron Keras has issued an order that the employer may only ask employees to fill out the attached form.

For our members, this means you DO NOT turn in prescription pad notes or any other note generated by your doctor.

If the employer asks for a medical certificate to be completed, you need to have your doctor fill out the one attached.

If your doctor is not prepared to bill the employer for the cost of the note or requires prepayment, notify the employer to make arrangements for the employer to prepay your doctor.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your Union Representative.

Sincerely

Glen MacInnes
Union Representative
