ICBC Consent Award - Vacation Leave (Article 15)

Thursday, October 20, 2011
To: All COPE 378 Members at ICBC

Our office is receiving many calls on the vacation sign-up.  It appears that some managers may be conducting the vacation sign-up incorrectly.  We attach an excerpt from the bulletin we issued back in August 2009 which includes the vacation language.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your Job Steward.

Excerpt from 2009 Bulletin:

On July 31 2009, ICBC and COPE 378 signed a Consent Award which finally resolved two separate long outstanding grievances:  One concerning vacation selection and seniority, the other on the use of temporary employees.

VACATION LEAVE - ARTICLE 15

Vacation selection and seniority will now cover a full 12 months.  The vacation year will be April 1 - March 31 with selections made in February for the next 12 months.  In the past, vacation selections only covered 9 months, leaving January to March of every year up in the air.  The new language will be fully implemented in 2011.

For the upcoming 2010 year, a transition agreement was reached.  Sign up for vacation will be by seniority and the vacation selection will start on November 1, to be completed by November 30, 2009, and will cover the period of January 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011.

Yours truly,

Jaime Zygmunt, Senior Union Representative
