Hertz Medical Certificate Award

To: All COPE 378 Members at Hertz

As a follow-up to our bulletin dated November 15, 2011 in regards to the Award of Arbitrator Ron Keras, we wish to clarify that the Award dealt specifically with the medical form the Employer is able to initially ask for in the case of an absence due to medical reasons as per Article 25.01.

The Arbitration was not about payment of medical costs but rather the Union was advising you of Article 25.03 of the Collective Agreement that states the costs of medical certificates must be borne by the Employer.

We did attach a copy of the full Award for your information and we encourage you to read it. If you have any further questions, please contact the Union.
