CNS - Vacation Accrual Credits from July 1st to Dec. 31st, 2010
One of the terms of settlement at our recent negotiations was the change to the vacation accrual period from July – June to January - December. The result of this change is that each member has a 6 months’ vacation accrual credit, with the option to either take this credit as additional vacation time by December 31st, 2012, or a cash payout.
All members should have completed and returned the form indicating which option he or she is electing. Although the deadline for returning these completed forms to Human Resources was yesterday, Thursday, May 5th, 2011, Human Resources has extended the deadline to the end of the work day today, except for Employees who have been absent between April 26th and May 5th, 2011.
The agreement reached at negotiations, and explained at the ratification meetings, was that Employees must indicate whether they were taking a payout or taking the additional accrual before December 31st, 2012. Many questions have been asked by members, and emails sent out from various managers, regarding taking the vacation accrual either as vacation or time. To be clear, there is no 3rd option to hang on to the accrued time and receive a payout after December 31st, 2012. If you have not requested a payout then you must schedule and take this additional vacation accrual before December 31st, 2012.
