Union is My Business
Sign up now and we will send you a “Union is My Business” button and follow up with regular updates telling you how others are making the Union their business!
The union is my business and that is why I am taking the challenge. It is our chance to help make the workplace, the community and world a better place today and in the future.
Starting this month I will take action to:
- Strengthen the union
- Where you know there are vacancies, ask them to consider running for an Executive Councilor position
- Labour Council Delegate
- Recruit a Job Steward (First line is you…we can help with the convincing)
- Attend the Job Steward Seminar
- Eyes and ears workplace – you do that now by being alert to violations of your Collective Agreement, but we need you looking out for all manner of things that the employer doesn’t bother telling us: members retiring, telling members to send us their email addresses (ICBC, Accenture – big problem).
- Help the unorganized
- CLC Employment Insurance changes – email your MP
- Living Wage Campaign
- Minimum Wage Campaign
- International Campaigns:
- ship workers in India
- www.canadianlabour.ca/issues/sweatshops
- Practise Solidarity
- Go to your local Labour Council Meeting
- www.canadianlabour.ca/international-solidarity
- Support local striking workers
