BCAA - New Member Guide: Medical Privacy
Your health is a personal matter and your right to medical privacy is paramount. More and more, Employers are seeking to gain access to more medical information than they are entitled to. Often, even the Employers aren’t aware of the limitations on what they can ask for.
Through our bargaining surveys, worksite visits, and focus groups with members at BCAA we’ve heard concern that some may not have the information they need to protect their medical privacy in the workplace. To help close this gap we’ve put together an updated member guide on medical privacy, specifically referencing your situation at BCAA.
You can download the guide at http://cope378.ca/bcaa-medical-privacy or find it and other relevant member guides by visiting cope378.ca, clicking on the “Your Workplace” tab, finding your workplace (either BCAA ERS or BCAA Service Centre) in the alphabetical list, and then clicking “Member Guides” in the right-hand blue box.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to talk to your Union Representative or a Job Steward. You can also email bcaacomm@cope378.ca with any questions you may have.
Thank you,
Brad Bastien
