Canadian union members have once again shown the meaning of solidarity with our Brothers and Sisters around the world.

Since the terrible earthquake in Haiti in January, unions and their members have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to relief and reconstruction efforts.

The Canadian Labour Congress has pledged $25,000 to the Red Cross and to the Humanitarian Coalition. The CLC's affiliates have also donated thousands of dollars and encouraged their members to also donate. In an amazing response to our appeal for individual donations to the Red Cross, to date over $23,000 has been donated by union members through the CLC's Red Cross portal.

With only one week to go to qualify for matching federal funds for individual donations, help us in a final push to get over $50,000. With matching federal funds, that would mean $100,000 to Red Cross relief projects in Haiti.

Please Send this message to your union friends and colleagues and ask them to donate if they have not already.

Union members in Canada have a proud tradition of helping those in need. Workers in Haiti, their families and their communities need our solidarity, and our help.

In Solidarity,

Ken Georgetti, President
