Accenture LTD Advance Repayment
The employer intends to withhold the gross amount advanced as the bridge between the sick pay and the actual start of LTD from the lump sum payment as permitted in article 5.05 (b) (3). We have checked with the Union’s accountant and can confirm that the gross amount is the correct one if it’s taken from the lump sum or regular pay on a bi-weekly basis.
If you have sufficient funds to cover the net amount, you may write the employer a cheque for that. This option requires ongoing vigilance on your part as you must watch your pays for the calendar year to ensure the tax is properly adjusted.
You may use banked time to repay the debt; again it will be based on the gross amount.
If you were in receipt of an LTD advance and it is still outstanding, we urge you to confirm precisely how much gross pay you received in order to ensure that only this amount is deducted from the lump sum. All advances may not show up as a line item on a paystub. If you received an off-cycle payment, this will be reflected in the year to date figure and needs to be included in your calculations.
In solidarity,
Pat Junnila
Union Representative
